Creamsicle Crush

Whipped cream vodka, orange juice and a splash of cream served over crushed ice in a powdered sugar-rimmed glass.

My buddy, Catlin and I spent a weekend at the beach a few months ago.  I, being a beer drinker to the core, brought a case of lager and she, being the girly-girl cocktail sort, brought a bottle of whipped cream vodka and some OJ.

I dutifully rolled my eyes when she popped them in the refrigerator.

Sometime the next evening I went to the fridge for a beer and spied the orange juice.  And was broad-sided by a sudden craving for it (which is odd because I don't even really like OJ).  So, I grabbed the jug and got a glass.  And then I thought, meh... why not?? and grabbed the whipped cream vodka.

Even while I was mixing my drink I was utterly convinced I would take one sip and turn my nose up.

But y'all.  Y'ALL.  That whipped cream vodka is really good!  I couldn't believe it!  Me?!  Ms. I Don't Like Sweet Drinks? Ms. Oh Please What Is That Crap Even Made Of?  Ms. Judgey McJudgeface of Countless Women Who Order Neon Colored Fish Bowl Cocktails?

Whatevs.  It was good!

I'd told Mom how impressed with it I was and, lo and behold, guess who had a bottle of it when I went over for Mother's Day today?!  And this is what we made!  It tastes JUST LIKE an orange creamsicle!

Whipped cream vodka, orange juice and a splash of cream served over crushed ice in a powdered sugar-rimmed glass.

ingredients:

  • 3 ounces Whipped Cream vodka
  • 3 ounces orange juice
  • 2 ounces whole milk or half-and-half
  • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • Powdered sugar-rimmed glass

instructions:

How to cook Creamsicle Crush

  1. Add vodka, orange juice, milk, powdered sugar and crushed ice to a cocktail shaker. Cover shaker tightly and shake vigorously (this froths the drink up). Pour into prepared glass and serve. Feel free to mix this to taste (more sugar, less vodka... whatever tastes good to you!).
  2. To rim the glass, pour about an 1/8 of an inch of vodka or orange juice into a small saucer. Add about 1/2 cup powdered sugar to a another saucer. Turn a tall glass upside down into the vodka to coat the rim then dip the glass into the sugar, rolling it around a bit until the rim is thoroughly coated.

  1. Oh Good Lord. You are going to make me try a girlie drink. Beer or whiskey is normal. But, you have yet to lead me wrong on anything, so I will search for the vodka here in hicksville, and then give this concoction a try!

  13. This is my fav...

Equal parts OJ and Pinnacle Vanilla/Whipped Cream flavored Vodka (really any vanilla vodka but this is particularly vanilla-ish)
Add a good pour of French Vanilla Creamer (any liquid coffee creamer - Walmart generic brand is pretty good)
    OR
Any Orange Soda with equal parts Pinnacle Vanilla/Whipped Cream Vodka (Pinnacle is the best combo with soda only)
    Crushed Ice

Hi there! While I’m not able to respond to every comment, I try hard to answer any questions that haven’t been addressed in the post, recipe or in other comments.

I can tell you now 1) I have no idea if you can substitute Minute Rice or brown rice in my recipes because I’ve never used them and 2) If I know how to convert a recipe to a Crock Pot version, I will make a note about it (otherwise, I don’t know).

And though I may not respond to them all, I do read each and every comment and I LOVE to hear from you guys! Thanks, y’all! - Mandy
