Hearty Party Appetizer Recipes

Filling appetizers, finger food recipes and heavy hors d'oeuvres perfect for entertaining - especially football parties, tailgating or other game day events!

It’s almost Super Bowl time! Whether you’re looking for the perfect appetizer recipes for your football party or even if you hate football and just want some amazing finger food recipes for your next gathering, here are my tried-and-true favorite recipes!

Since I almost always serve light stuff like a vegetable tray and fresh fruit, I try to beef things up with the other appetizers I prepare and go for hearty recipes.

In no particular order, here are my favorites! I’ll be pulling out several of these when we watch the Super Bowl with the kids. Since the big game always falls on a Sunday (side note about that – I wish we could get that changed to Saturdays going forward 😬) which means school and work the next day, we’ve created a tradition at my house of going ALL OUT with the party food and decorations but we keep things ALL IN.

We don’t have guests over – it’s just us and the kiddos – so we put on our favorite pajamas or (if we have a favorite team playing, we wear our colors) and make it a family night. A family night with a ton of appetizers, that is! The kids look forward to it every year because it’s like we’re having a party just for us!

  1. Thanks for this collection. We're not football fans in my family (don't shoot me!) but my kids love "snacks for lunch" on the weekend and I love the variety in this roundup.

  2. I could live on snacks like these (and desserts of course!) I want all of these at our party this weekend.

Hi there! While I’m not able to respond to every comment, I try hard to answer any questions that haven’t been addressed in the post, recipe or in other comments.

I can tell you now 1) I have no idea if you can substitute Minute Rice or brown rice in my recipes because I’ve never used them and 2) If I know how to convert a recipe to a Crock Pot version, I will make a note about it (otherwise, I don’t know).

And though I may not respond to them all, I do read each and every comment and I LOVE to hear from you guys! Thanks, y’all! - Mandy
