I'm so excited to try your easy (if time consuming) recipe. I have to admit Im very prone to having to "Cajun things up" however, yours looks so scrumptious im not changing a thing. Except sausage. I called them Mustard Beans and never could find a recipe. My mom didn't like them, so she never picked up Grandma's recipe for them. Looking forward to trying these. I'm a big old 6'5" southern boy, now relocated to PA because of my job *tears* and I love your recipes. Don't get new ones passed around like down home with the family except the occasional email. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:
1 lb great northern beans
2 medium onions, chopped
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup ketchup
1/2 tsp dry mustard (more to taste)
1/4 lb. bacon1/4 cup molasses
1 tbsp salt

Directions:
Bring beans to a boil for about 5-10 minutes in large pot with plenty of water. Then simmer on low until softish, about 40 minutes. Drain.
Put all ingredients in slow cooker.
Add 1 cup water and stir to blend.
Cook on low 10-12 hours or Hi 6-8 hours. Stir occasionally.
One hour before finished, check to see if beans are too liquidy. If so, leave cover off till liquid is concentrated to your liking.

This is my first time writing up a recipe. Hope it's OK. These beans are a crowd pleaser and I usually make double the recipe. Enjoy!!!!
Jayne Robertsonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5848110156569017758.post-40217618708623849592016-11-08T20:07:19.899-05:002016-11-08T20:07:19.899-05:00Well bless his little pointed head

I am 64 years old, Mandy, and I have never made baked beans with dried beans! Too much work! But I may have to try it now just because they look so good on your site. I make mine just like your recipe but I use pork and beans too. They are always good as I am sure yours are, too!jojohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12154703783482329959noreply@blogger.com
